Thanks to everyone who came to this year’s holiday soiree! It was a HUGE success and we loved reconnecting with all of our friends and supporters. It was refreshing to see so much support for what we do and more importantly a reminder that the work we do matters. For those who could not make it, don’t worry – we will have another one next year.

Not only did we have a great time reconnecting after YEARS of online meetings, emails, and tweets, we had a couple of announcements:
CaRLA is now CalHDF
We introduced Nick Eckenwiler, our first ever Legal Fellow
To cap it all off, we even received a special shoutout from AG Rob Bonta! (watch below) Rob Bonta has been instrumental with his support of our organization, reminding and encouraging us to fight the injustices against housing.
Due in large part from your support, this year, we were able to accomplish so much, in fact we tripled our effectiveness. We defended 35,845 homes, sent out 137 threat letters, and added 2 more lawsuits to our plate – Santa Clara and Rancho Palos Verdes. Our team expanded with Courtney Welch, our Director of Investigations & Enforcement and just recently Nick Eckenwiler, our new Legal Fellow! Over the summer, we had the privilege of offering law internships to Ian Miller and Nathaniel Hyman.
Additionally, we are more prepared than ever for what’s coming. Thank you to Open Philanthropy and CZI, who believe in our work and whose funding has allowed us to expand our staff and reach.
